Digital Transfer Courses

Dear students,

There are number of concerns you raised about the digital courses. I’ll try to my best to address all your concern here, yet please use dedicated consultation time with your supervisor if you have a further inquiry about digital transfer elective courses.

Please address all issues your supervisor or the professor who is registered as a lecture in PSYX courses in the course register system (UIS as of today).

1. First of all, you need to read carefully rules and regulations about digital platform courses Abdullah Gül Üniversitesi Dijital Platformlarda Sunulan Online Derslerin Seçmeli Ders Olarak Saydırılmasıyla İlgili Uygulama Esasları
2. I would like to emphasis the couple of regulations which may address your questions.
   1. A maximum of 2 courses can be taken in this status with valid ECTC credit in undergrad programme. (Madde 4.1: “Tüm lisans eğitimi esnasında kredili olarak bu statüde en fazla 2 ders alınabilir.”)
   2. Digital platforms where relevant online courses can be taken include: Coursera, EdX, Udemy, Udacity, Futurelearn, and related platforms of the universities such as MIT, Harvard, Stanford and Columbia (Madde 4.2: “Çevrimiçi ders alınabilecek dijital platformlar şunlardır: Coursera, EdX, Udemy, Udacity, Futurelearn, MIT, Harvard, Stanford ve Columbia Üniversitelerinin ilgili platformlar”
   3. The language of instruction of the online course must be English, exempt the language courses, e.g. German, Spanish, etc. (Madde 4.3. “Alınan çevrimiçi dersin eğitim dilinin İngilizce olması zorunludur. Çevrimiçi platformlardan alınan seçmeli dil dersleri (örneğin; Almanca, İspanyolca, vb.) bu kapsamın dışındadır.”)
   4. Online courses with similar content (equivalent) to a course offered by all programs in AGU cannot be taken (Madde 4.4. “AGÜ’de tüm programlar tarafından ilgili yarıyılda açılan bir derse benzer içerikli (muadil) çevrimiçi ders alınamaz.”)
   5. The fees to take the digital course is paid by the student, unless there is an institutional agreement between the university and the online course platform (MADDE 6- (1) Kaydolunacak çevrimiçi dersin ücreti kurumsal bir anlaşma olmadığı sürece öğrenciler tarafından karşılanır.)

We have evaluated the digital platform courses that you have applied with so far and come to conclusion as you may find in the detailed table below. We strongly recommend you take cognate courses from the AGU departments. However, this extraordinary situation in Turkey and switching into online education, we have assessed all courses in the list and decided to accept at the course, “100 Days of Code: The Complete Python Pro Bootcamp for 2023” as cognate course. All other courses are suitable to take as none-departmental and unrestrictive elective, yet I strongly recommend you to give attention the note in the list.

"What occurs upon enrollment in a digital course?

The digital course operates under a supervision framework. Upon admission to PSYXxxx, your designated professor will initiate communication via CANVAS, our online learning management system. Within the initial weeks, your professor will request completion of a registration form for the digital course to assess the appropriateness of your selected courses. It is imperative to note that applications for courses not listed in the official course schedule should be submitted at least one month before the commencement of a new term. Failure to do so will limit your options to pre-approved courses exclusively listed on our institution's website.

To monitor your progress within the digital course, your supervisor will require periodic submissions of course-related documents such as assignments, projects, or course materials. During the final week of the term, you will be mandated to submit your course completion certificate. Your performance throughout the term, course evaluations, and the submitted completion certificate will collectively undergo evaluation to determine your final grade. The grading system consists of two categories: satisfactory and unsatisfactory. However, it is imperative to acknowledge that if your progress suggests minimal participation in the course, your professor retains the authority to assign a grade of 'NA'."

Besides, we believe that the course requires strong pre-knowledge on physics and mathematics. Strongly advise unregister the course unless you have a strong dedication and interest in the course.
100 Days of Code: The Complete Python Pro Bootcamp for 2023	Udemy	None-departmental or Unrestrictive Elective courses, or Cognate	5	PSYX152	60	https://www.udemy.com/course/100-days-of-code/	The department has come to decision to accept this course as cognate due to online education because of extraordinary situation in 2022-2023 Spring Term. However, we strongly advise you to take cognate courses from the relevant departments in AGU if possible.

Note: The difference between PSYX 131 and 132 is that xx1 for Fall term and xx2 is the Spring term. However, if you have already taken one of them, the other can be taken regardless the term information in the code.  

Madde 7.3

a) If the digital course contains 30-40 hours of training material (video, reading assignments, quiz, article, etc.), the course can be transferred to 3 ECTS digital platform course (e.g.; PSYX 131, EEX 106, ARCX 103, ARCX 106, etc.),

b) If the digital course contains 41-60 hours of training material (video, reading assignments, quiz, article, etc.), the course can be transferred to 4 ECTS digital platform course (e.g.; PSYX 141, PSYX 142, EEX 108, ARCX 104, ARCX 108, etc.)

c) If the digital course contains more than 61 hours of training material (video, reading assignments, quiz, article, etc.), the course can be transferred to 5 ECTS digital platform course (e.g.; PSYX151, PSYX152, EEX 105, EEX 110, ARCX 105, ARCX 110, vb.) karşılık gelir.
